Five Habits that will Ruin Your Vehicle | Day's Morgantown Hyundai

Avoiding these habits can go a long way in preventing an expensive repair bill.

Most things you own will last longer if you take care of them and treat them well. Your car is no exception to this rule. While neglecting your car may seem harmless in the short term, regular neglect and mistreatment will add up and will reduce your car’s lifespan. To keep your car running longer and stronger, avoid these five harmful habits.

1. Delaying regular maintenance
Regularly maintaining your car is vital to your car’s longevity. Regular maintenance includes oil and filter replacement, as well as transmission fluid, air filter and brake pad care. Every vehicle manufacturer specifies a different maintenance routine, which can be found in your owner’s manual. While regular maintenance requires you to invest some time and money, it’s peanuts compared to the cost of a new engine or transmission.

2. Ignoring dash warning lights
When a warning indicator lights up on your dash panel, it’s important to address the problem immediately. If you don’t know what the light means, check your owner’s manual or call your mechanic. Dash warning lights can alert you to some very serious problems, such as a coolant leak, which can cause your engine to overheat. A simple preventative repair can often prevent a large problem down the line.

3. Shifting while moving
The transmission is one of the most complex and expensive parts in your car and it’s important to use is as it was intended. Be careful not to shift from drive to reverse or vice versa while the car is still moving. This “jerky” shifting places excess strain on the transmission’s internal gears and can instantly destroy it.

4. Jerky driving
We all know someone who accelerates wildly on every straightaway only to brake hard at a traffic light or stop sign. This type of driving won’t destroy your car immediately, but will cause your engine, transmission and brake system to deteriorate much more quickly than intended. Cars that have been abused will have premature fluid leaks, broken seals and mechanical problems.

5. Putting off tire replacement
Tires for some cars can be expensive, so replacing them is an unwelcome cost. Driving on bald tires is very risky, however. If a tire blows out while you’re driving, you can lose control of your vehicle and have a serious accident. And if you drive with bald tires in the rain, the risk of hydroplaning goes up tremendously. A new set of tires may seem pricey, but probably costs less than your car, and even less than your insurance deductible.

Hyundai HB20 R-Spec Concept Car Launched | Day's Morgantown Hyundai

Hyundai Motor Company has launched the HB20 R-Spec concept vehicle at the 2014 Sao Paulo Auto Show.
The stylish concept car has been developed under the guidance of Hyundai’s design guru Peter Schreyer.
Painted in matte blue exterior color, the HB20 R-Spec incorporates aggressive front fascia styling with large hexagonal grille and attractive LED daytime running lights being two of the most notable features of the car.

Completing the vehicle’s sporty look are the widened fenders, sporty 17-inch alloy wheels, full LED tail-lamps and dual chrome exhaust pipes.
It is not known at this point whether Hyundai plans to release the HB20 R-Spec to the market or just tease the visitors of the show.
However, Hyundai is working on a range of hot hatchbacks that will soon see the day of light.
As we previously reported, the automaker is currently developing their first-ever N hot hatchback, which will be based on the just-recently introduced i20 hatch.

Hyundai Sells its 10,000,000th Elantra | Day's Morgantown Hyundai

There aren't many nameplates that have sold over 10 million units in the history of the automotive industry. In fact there have only been ten, and now Hyundai has joined the list for the first time with the Elantra.

Launched 24 years ago, the Elantra has far and away been Hyundai's top selling model. Now in its fifth generation, the Elantra is sold as a coupe, sedan and wagon, and under the Avante name in its home market. It's one of the top selling cars in the world, and Hyundai has earned the right to crow that it has sold its 10,000,000 of them globally. That means that, on average, Hyundai has sold more than 45 new Elantras every hour of every day of every year since its introduction in 1990.

Other models in the 10 Million Club include the Toyota Corolla, Honda Civic, VW Beetle and Golf, and the Ford Model T and F-Series. The latter might still be considered the most impressive, selling over 34 million units – the vast majority in the US – to be America's top-selling vehicle for over 30 years running.

Hyundai Santa Fe 2015 Release Date, Changes | Day's Hyundai Morgantown

Hyundai announces the release of the 2015 Santa Fe models!
The Hyundai Santa Fe and Santa Fe Sport are already award winners, but they are getting even better for 2015, with more standard features and convenience equipment included.
Set to hit Hyundai dealerships immediately, the pricing for the base Santa Fe model starts at just $24,950!

Changes & What’s New

The electric steering is one area of improvement, with a 32-bit microprocessor added to improve feel.
The Driver Selectable Steering Mode remains, although the Sport setting has been retuned to deliver improved feel. The front wheel bushings have also been retuned to further improve the steering feel for the driver.
The ride and handling of both models has earned a world-class reputation, but suspension enhancements will help take that to another level, too. The suspension set-up in front and back has been improved to deliver a smoother ride.
Front- and all-wheel drive continue to be offered in the Santa Fe, as do seating options for five, six, or seven passengers.
Under the hood of the Sport model you will find an efficient 2.4-liter 4-cylinder or a more powerful 2.0-liter turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cyclinder.
The 2015 Santa Fe goes with the 3.3-liter Lambda II V6. All engines use GDI and Dual Continuously Variable Valve Timing. The standard transmission across the board is a 6-speed automatic.
There are a number of new standard features added to the 2015 models, including daytime running lights, a driver’s blind spot mirror and an auto up/down front passenger power window.
New paint colors, Sparkling Silver and Platinum Graphite are also new for 2015. Both models have the option of adding the new Hands-Free Smart Liftgate with Auto Open technology.
Getting access to the cargo area with your hands full is easier than ever before, as all you need to do is stand by the rear bumper for a few seconds with the key fob in your purse or pocket.
The Santa Fe sport shows off its sporty sense of style by coming with a two-tone grille.
The 2015 Santa Fe comes with a laundry list of standard safety equipment, including Vehicle Stability Management with Electronic Stability Control and Traction Control System.
Also standard on all 2015 models are 7 airbags, including a driver’s knee airbag, four-wheel disc brakes and ABS with Electronic Brake-force Distribution and Brake Assist, Hill-start Assist Control with Downhill Brake Control and a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).

Hyundai Prius-Fighter Hybrid could preview next attack on Toyota's champion

Hyundai is no stranger to the hybrid game, selling a gas-electric version of the Sonata in the US since 2011. The 2015-model-year version gets 38 miles per gallon combined, which is certainly admirable but not quite in the same league as the hybrid champion Toyota Prius (50 mpg combined). New spy shots reveal that Hyundai might be finally ready to targeting the non-plug-in fuel economy leader. Why else would some mysterious Hyundai prototypes be cruising through the desert hills with a few Priuses in tow?

Our photographers believe these mules hint at an all-new hybrid model, which makes us think of the Blue Will concept from the 2010 Detroit Auto Show. At the time, Hyundai said the concept could be a preview of a future dedicated hybrid that would compete with the Prius.

We don't know what it all means for sure, but our spy photographers found four heavily modified Elantra GTprototypes driving around with a standard Prius and a Prius V. As if that wasn't enough of a clue, the four changed Elantras represent different approaches Hyundai might be using to go after Toyota, since there were two versions driving by our photographer's lenses, with different rear extensions indicating that both the standard Prius and the larger V might be in Hyundai's sights.

Despite the inclusion of a battery pack and a high-voltage cable running under the car, there was no obvious sign of a plug, so the old rumors of a Sonata PHEV will likely remain in the dustbin for now. Unless that strange rectangle of tape on the gas cover is hiding something surprising, of course.

Hyundai discontinuing Elantra Coupe in US for 2015

Hyundai's entry level two-door, the Elantra Coupe, is getting the axe for model year 2015. That leaves the Kia Forte Koup, Honda Civic and Scion tC to hold up the receding entry-level two-door segment.

The Coupe only arrived at US dealerships in 2012, initially as a 2013 model, and it was recently updated at the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show, with Hyundai adding a more powerful 2.0-liter engine as standard (it was optional in other Elantra models). Considering its short run, though, we're guessing that even a quick update couldn't cure the slow sales that are likely at the root of the two-door's discontinuation. The Elantra Coupe should remain on sale in the Canadian market, according to Driving.ca.

We've reached out to Hyundai for official confirmation and a cause of death for the Coupe. When we hear back, we'll be sure to update you.
